Herb hasn’t had a “Boss” for a very long time, so there was no one to tell him he is retired. He just figured it out. He, until recently was (or perhaps still is) an Associate with both the Centre for Sustainable Community Development and the Dialogue Centre at Simon Fraser University and a Research Associate with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. He founded and for 10 years was Executive Director of FarmFolk, CityFolk. He was an organic farmer, and was on CBC Almanac Food Panel for 13 years.  Herb helped create the Vancouver Food Policy Council and was a member for 7 years. He still works (or perhaps dabbles) to envision and create a just, sustainable and resilient food future. Herb still works with the Re*Plan Committee of False Creek South Residents Association to ensure the community is resilient and sustainable now and in the future. He is a former member of Health Canada’s Food Expert Advisory Committee. Among many publications he co-authored Every Bite Counts: Climate Justice and BC’s Food System and How Food Secure is Vancouver ? In the past 14 months Herb and Lynne have moved three times and taken 5 trips of 2 to 5 weeks each. Their next adventures are to be with their granddaughters (and their parents) in Bali and in their home in Kazakhstan
