Cities for a Resilient Recovery (C2R) is a coalition of cities and resilience practitioners committed to taking leadership, to embedding resilience in recovery, and to supporting each other through the recovery planning process by sharing knowledge, providing subject matter expertise, and facilitating both individual and collective action.

The Educational Partnerships for Innovation in Communities - Network (EPIC-N) unites local governments, and communities, with the human capital of universities to improve the quality of life and social wealth for all involved. EPIC-N is the nonprofit association of institutions that adopt the award-winning EPIC model for university-community partnership.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change call for deep transformations in every country that require complementary actions by governments, civil society, science, and business. While significant progress is being made on some goals, no country is currently on track towards achieving all SDGs. 

The Community Tool Box is a free, online resource for those working to build healthier communities and bring about social change. It offers thousands of pages of tips and tools for taking action in communities.

"In 2011, 81 per cent of Canadians lived in urban centres (Statistics Canada, 2011). Cities are the epicentres of arts and culture as well as hubs for business and economic growth, and as such they are important stakeholders in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. To ensure that cities are on track to contribute to these goals, assessments of indicators aligned with the SDG framework are necessary to identify what is working and where more attention should be devoted. IISD’s SGD Indicator Portal tracks SDG progress in 13 cities across Canada.

Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organization and coalition of scholars, scientists, entrepreneurs, and advocates from across the globe that is mapping, measuring, modeling, and communicating about a collective array of substantive solutions to global warming, with the goal of reaching drawdown.

All of the SDGs have targets that are directly or indirectly related to the daily work of local and regional governments. Local governments should not be seen as mere implementers of the agenda. Local governments are policy makers, catalysts of change and the level of government best-placed to link the global goals with local communities. With the support from the Federal Government of Germany, the United Nations System Staff College has opened the Knowledge Centre for Sustainable Development in Bonn to equip the UN and its partners with a vehicle to deliver on the learning agenda pertaining to Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
