ICLEI World Congress 2021

ICLEI World Congress 2021 will take place from 14-17 April 2021 in Malmö, Sweden. Hundreds of local, regional and national governments, international agencies, representatives of the private sector, academics and researchers, community groups and other partners from around the world will come together to steer the global sustainable development agenda by enhancing action taken in urban areas worldwide.

An ICLEI Member since 1996, the City of Malmö is a climate-smart knowledge city, listed as the fourth most innovate in the world by OECD. Malmö is working actively for sustainability initiatives and is the first city in Sweden that has publicly announced the commitment to implement the UN SDGs.

Advancing and accelerating the sustainable transition

The four-day ICLEI World Congress 2021 will offer more than 50 sessions and workshops, allowing participants to explore, engage and exchange on urban sustainability in the context of current global developments worldwide. They will jointly look at how to best advance and accelerate collective action on sustainability through the prism of ICLEI’s five interconnected development pathways: Low emission development, nature-based development, circular development, resilient development, and equitable and people-centered development.

ICLEI World Congress 2021 will also offer a wide range of networking opportunities. Participants will share their experiences, stories and good practices on urban sustainability. Together, participants will shape solutions and forge new partnerships that drive sustainable urban development forward.
