It is the community coming together to be a collective source of change, political and non-political.  Citizen participation is a process that provides private individuals an opportunity to influence public decisions.

Resilient Cities 2018

Resilient Cities – The Annual Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation – is the global platform for urban resilience and climate change adaptation. Resilient Cities was first launched in 2010 with the goal of connecting local government leaders and climate change adaptation experts to discuss adaptation challenges facing urban environments around the globe and forging partnerships that could have lasting impacts for cities. The 9th edition of the Resilient Cities congress series will take place on 26-28 April 2018.

Sustainability is too important to leave to consultants making money by protecting proprietary information. The knowledge and tools needed to implement genuine sustainability should be available to everyone.

Community action has an increasingly prominent role in the debates surrounding transitions to sustainability. Initiatives such as community energy projects, community gardens, local food networks and car sharing clubs provide new spaces for sustainable consumption, and combinations of technological and social innovations. These initiatives, which are often driven by social good rather than by pure monetary motives, have been conceptualised as grassroots innovations.
